Inspired by their participation in the 2017 production by the West Point Alumni Glee Club (WPAGC), Rock Ridge High School in Ashburn, VA, developed their own production of Johnny Vet: Freedom Isn’t Free in time for Veterans’ Day 2019. Anchored by Rock Ridge Performing Arts and Rock Ridge Sings, the school involved multiple departments in their production and included the WPAGC as special guests to perform selected musical numbers, while the bulk of the performers, as well as the narrators, were students. Two performances, included as part of the schools annual performing arts subscription series, were well received by the general public.

The success of the Rock Ridge High School production can serve as a model for other schools who may wish to engage their students in a similar production.
